Kevin McMahan

Kevin McMahan serves as the Assistant Secretary of State for Washington, overseeing elections, cybersecurity, strategic communications, and civic participation. His role requires close collaboration with leaders at the local, state, and federal levels.
Previously, Kevin completed a 31-year military career that included two deployments to Iraq, command at various levels, leadership of National Guard domestic response operations in Washington, and service as Incident Response Commander for the Washington National Guard’s 18-month COVID-19 response. He holds a master’s degree in homeland security and defense from the Naval Postgraduate School’s Center for Homeland Defense and Security, a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Idaho, and was a U.S. Army War College Fellow at Texas A&M University.
